Dr. Dougherty has been practicing Optometry since 1984 when he graduated from Indiana University School of Optometry.  He is a native Indiana resident  and has been living in the Fort Wayne area since his graduation.  Besides his private practice experience, Dr. Dougherty has been affiliated with ophthalmic surgeons for the last twenty years in order to expand his expertise in patient care.  His practice interests include eye care for all ages and medical needs. 

As an additional interest in vision care services, Dr. Dougherty and his family have raised five dogs for the Leader Dog for the Blind program support by the Lion's Club.  Their last dog "Tater", completed his training  at the Leader Dog school.

Dr. Dougherty has many interests which  include  completing his training for a private pilots certificate and scuba diving.  His wife, Jill,  is a middle school music instructor and also an Indiana University graduate.  His daughter, Aubrey, is a product of Indiana University  earning a degree in liberal arts and management.  She presently resides in Fort Wayne.  Ashley, his oldest daughter  finished her degrees from Ball State University in Elementary Education and special education with an emphasis on the hearing impaired.  She is a hearing impaired preschool teacher with the Indianapolis Schools.  His youngest son, Klint is a student at Purdue University and spends his free time singing with the Purdue Varsity Mens Glee Club.  His study interest are directed to the health sciences.
